Today we will describe the methods in one of the famous image editing software Photoshop.because most of the PCs are installed with Photoshop and it is very easy to use and one of the most popular image editing software in the world
To make a photo that is compatible for kerala psc website (for one time registration) Follow
the below steps.
Your photograph FOR PSC ONETIME REGISTRATION in digital form with following specification Maximum Size : 30Kb, Image Dimension : 150W X 200H px,MEANS WIDTH -150PIXEL AND HEIGHT 200PIXEL ,Image Type : JPG
1.OPEN YOUR EXISTING PHOTO IN THE COMPUTER OR TAKE THE SCANNED IMAGE THAT SAVED IN YOUR COMPUTER HARD DRIVE,FOR OPINING THE IMAGE FOLLOW ANY OF THE FOLLOWING METHODS
(i) select FILE -> OPEN
(ii) Use this short cut ; press these keyboard buttons at once { CTRL -> O }
Now a window open through this window you can locate the place where you saved the image
file,select and press the open button in the window.Now the image file opened in your
photoshop software.
2.SELECT THE PARTICULAR PORTION OF THE IMAGE YOU WANT, USING CROP TOOL
FOR SELECTING CROP TOOL CLICK THE ‘C‘ BUTTON IN YOUR KEYBOARD OR USE THE TOOL BOX IN THE
SOFTWARE SIDE PANEL AND SELECT THE CROP TOOL
3.THEN YOU CAN SPECIFY THE DESIRED SIZE OF THE PHOTO IN CROP FEATURE FIELD IN THE TOP OF
PHOTOSHOP SOFTWARE WINDOW
ENTER THESE VALUES- WIDTH -150px AND HEIGHT – 200px ,Resolution – 300
4.Then crop using the crop tool up on the opened image over the desired place ,for this click and drag the tool ,a square shaped selection appears on the image and adjust the position then click the enter button
Note : if you miss the selection or not in the correct form then avoid it by using the escape button in the keyboard
5. After cropping to the correct dimension then the next process is write your name and date of photo taken in the photo.
FOR THIS
FIRST SELECT THE SELECTION TOOL FROM THE TOOL BOX(RECTANGLE SELECTION TOOL) THAT SHOWN IN THE LEFT SIDE TOOL BOX OR CLICK THE ‘M’ BUTTON ON THE KEYBOARD THEN THE RECTANGLE SELECTION TOOL WILL ACTIVE.
AFTER THAT SELECT THE LOWER PORTION OF THE IMAGE JUST LIKE THE IMAGE SHOWN BELOW AND CREATE A NEW LAYER FOR THIS USE THIS SHORT CUT {CTRL -> SHIFT -> N},THEN CLICK OK
6.AFTER THAT APPLY A COLOR TO THAT MARKED PORTION, USE WHITE COLOR
FOR COLOR PICKING USE THE TOOL BOX , CLICK THE COLOR ICON THEN SELECT WHITE COLOR AND CLICK OK THEN APPLY IT TO THE SELECTED PORTION
7.FOR THIS USE THIS SHORTCUT {ALT -> DELETE},COLOR APPLIED TO THE CURRENT SELECTION.
8.NOW WE HAVE TO WRITE THE NAME AND DATE OF PHOTO TAKEN
FOR THIS SELECT THE TEXT TOOL AND THE SHORTCUT IS ‘ T ‘ THEN CLICK IT ON THE IMAGE AND TYPE YOUR NAME (USE BLOCK LETTERS) THEN PRESS ENTER BUTTON,USE THE RIGHT SIDE ENTER BUTTON ON THE KEYBOARD (ENTER BUTTON ON THE NUMBER BLOCK) AFTER THAT ARRANGE THE POSITION OF THE NAME AND PLACE IT ON THE PREVIOUSLY CREATED WHITE PORTION.THEN AGAIN USE THE TEXT TOOL FOR TYPING THE DATE .CLICK THE TEXT TOOL ANYWHERE IN THE PICTURE AND TYPE THE DATE AND ARRANGE ITS POSITION JUST BELOW THE NAME.
NOTE : when using the text tool in Photoshop adjust the text size on the top side where you can adjust the font- (use arial font) ,font style -(use Regular),and the font size-(for name use 4pt , and for date use the size 3pt),leave other text features.
10.NOW THE PHOTO ARRANGING PROCESSES ARE COMPLETED NEXT SAVE IT WITH THE DESIRED SIZE AND FORMATS ACCORDING TO KERALA PSC ONETIME REGISTRATION PROCEDURE.
FOR THIS SELECT FOLLOWING OPTIONS FROM THE PHOTOSHOP MENU BAR
FILE -> SAVE FOR WEB AND MOBILE DEVICES. or USE THIS KEYBOARD SHORTCUT – { CTRL + SHIFT + ALT + S }.
THEN A NEW WINDOW APPEARS AND SELECT THE 2-UP OPTION ON THE TOP OF THE WINDOW,NOW THE IMAGE SHOWN IN TWO SEPARATE WINDOW,AND SELECT THE SECOND WINDOW.
IN THE RIGHT SIDE PANEL YOU CAN CHANGE THE IMAGE FORMAT TO YOUR DESIRED FORMATS SELECT ‘JPEG’ FROM IT,AND JUST BELOW YOU CAN SEE THE QUALITY OPTIONS THERE YOU CAN CHANGE THE QUALITY FROM LOW TO MAXIMUM.WHENEVER YOU CHANGE THE QUALITY THE IMAGE’S SIZE WILL ALSO CHANGE THAT WILL BE SHOWN IN THE SECOND IMAGE WINDOW’S BOTTOM PART for eg-14.75kb or 25.86kb etc
SELECT A BEST QUALITY THAT NOT EXCEED THE SIZE 30KB.
11.FINAL STEP SAVE THE FILE,
FOR THIS CLICK ON THE SAVE BUTTON AT THE TOP RIGHT CORNER OF THE WINDOW AND SAVE IT TO DESIRED PLACE ON YOUR COMPUTER AND THEN USE IT FOR ONETIME REGISTRATION
