Nature of Work
There are two types of exporters – the manufacture exporters and merchant exporters. The Merchant ex. porters are directly involved in buying and selling products. They promote exports. Executives, Supervisors, Purchase Officers, Managers are employed in these organizations. The manufacture exporters have their units to manufacture various products to be exported. These units arc managed by the Chairman and/ or Managing Director who are assisted by Managers, Assistant Managers, Assistant Managers executives, Designers, Inspectors, Supervisors etc.
Courses & Training For export business, specific type of experience and training is required. A number of institutions provide training in respect of various aspects of International Trade.
1) Indian Institute of Foreign Trade, Qurab Institutional Area, New Delhi -110016 is conducting various Training Programs related to foreign trade. Details of these courses are as follows:
a) Master’s Program in International Business: It is a 2 year full-time course related to general Manage’ merit in International Business. Admission co this program is open to candidates with a master’s degree in any discipline or a degree in Engineering/ Tweedledum, with at least 60% marks in aggregate.
Selection is through a written test on an All India basis The test includes topics on
(I) English comprehension,
(iii) Analysis of Business Situation
(iv) Arithmetic ability.
Those who qualify the written test are called for a group discussion and swim, Merit scholarships are available. The institution has also got hostel facilities.
b) Postgraduate Diploma Program in International Trade: It is one year course for working executives who have two years’ experience after having a mate, a degree in any discipline or a degree in Engineering/ Humanities/ Science/ Commend Law with at least 55% marks in aggregate. The selection is through a written test followed by group discussion and interview. The test is conducted on an All India basis at several places,
c) Certificate Course in Export Marketing (evening): It is a four-month part-time course for working executives for upgrading their knowledge and understanding of the International business scenario. It aims at imparting knowledge in the modem techniques of export marketing. The candidate should be a graduate. Preference is given to sponsored candidates. Selection is on the basis of academic qualifications, experience, and personal interview.
2) Delhi School of Economics, Department of Commerce, Delhi University, Delhi -110-007 offers Post Graduate diplomas in International Marketing and International Management of a one-year duration. Degree holders with 55% marks; preferably with commerce, economics, management are eligible for admission. Selection is on the basis of merit and personal interview.
3) Punjab University, Chandigarh organizes one year Port-Graduate diploma in International Trade to degree holders with 55% marks. Graduates with 50% marks hot., two years experience, and associates of the Institute of Chartered Accountants and Institute of Cost And Works Accountants of India are also eligible.
4) Guru Nanak Dev University. Amritsar offers M.Com in International Business and Foreign Trade and Policy. It is two years course for commerce graduate.
